In the Tungle: The time zone problem... solved.
Last week I gave a Tungle tour to one of our new Tunglers. I started talking about the time zone converter and a light bulb went on. As it turns out, only a week earlier she had to coordinate a conference call between herself, her boss in Hawaii and a client in Arizona.
So there she was, trying to figure out not just when everyone was available, but what time each person’s availability would be in everyone else’s time zone. I could only imagine the headache.
If she had found Tungle just a week earlier, she would have:
- Started a meeting invitation.
- Added her boss and client as invitees.
- Selected multiple meeting times to propose.
- Sent the invite.
That’s it. Tungle would have handled the rest. Here’s how:
- Her boss and client would have each gotten an email meeting invitation.
- Tungle would have converted the proposed meeting times to each person’s time zone.
- They would have responded, the meeting would have been booked, and our new Tungler would have been notified of the meeting time... converted to her own time zone.
All the crazy back-and-forth of figuring out a common time, and figuring out what time those common times were for everyone else, would have been taken care of.
How does it work? Tungle knows your time zone by checking the settings of the device you're using. Let's say you're replying to a meeting invitation from your iPhone. Tungle checks the time zone settings of your iPhone, and automatically converts the proposed times in your invite to match the time zone of your iPhone.
When your information gets back to the meeting organizer, Tungle converts it back to the time zone of their device - let's say a PC, in this case.
If you're travelling, and you want to schedule meetings in the time zone where you will be, just select another time zone from the drop down at the top right of your calendar view in Tungle.
We think it’s a pretty cool feature, and definitely a time-saver.
You can see it in action if you sign up or sign in, and if you’ve got questions, send them over.
